Bernard O'Neill received the following plea for help and asks for anyone who can help to get in touch with him:

Dear Bernard,

My dad, Neil Sandiford, attending Shrigley from 1952-1958.  He moved to Australia when he was around 21, and married my mother, Sallie (nee Edmonds) and had four children – 3 girls and a boy.  He was an amazing and highly skilled physiotherapist who would accept home-made jam as payment from pensioners who couldn’t afford a physio.  Sadly dad was diagnosed with prostate cancer at age 52 and died 10 years later at age 62.

My daughter Maddie, never got to meet her Grandpa, but she is extremely interested in him.  I tell her lots of stories, but I wish that I could ask him more.  He was a great story-teller!

I’m wondering if you are in contact with others who were at the school who would remember dad?  We don’t have any photos from that time either, because he didn’t bring any to Australia with him.  We would really love to hear anything from his friends at Shirley who remember him.

Thanks so much Bernard,

Warm regards,

Carol Sandiford

We have contact details for Carol and can pass them on to anyone who would like to write directly.
